Hi annette
Sorry to hear about your dad. I don't actually remember the name as driver ers and mechanics did not mix that much. The only thing I can think of is a heritage centre. There is one man who might help called fuzz Townsend who is a tv presenter . Hope you find one.
Regards peter
I went to hunters hill and remember the girls from cropwood coming over every now then for dancing g and watching films all supervised of course. It sounds like it was hell for you and that's sad but fortunately things must have changed apart from the butcher of a dentist
Yeah there were two of us who were tall and had to wear adult clothes so maybe you thought we were staff
We also served at meal times and the kid who always had sweets got xtra so we could beg them of him. Was there a tuck shop run by the staff when you were there. Mr tebbitt also taught...
Some of the names I remember but the scary one for me was the head teacher who lived with the school nurse. Nurse barrett was one the child carers for the younger kids. I never wore a school uniform because I was tall and had no clothes to fit me. Were you in the dorms or the "block" as they...
I have been reading an old thread about but buses and it bought memories flooding back. When I left school in 1966, I started my working life at cross field rd bus garage in kitts green. They still had some of the old trolley buses in storage at the side of the workshop.

They used to dose with ultraviolet light in an attempt to treat...
Hi I went to hunters hill from 1963-1966. The girls from cropwood would come over for a dance evening/youth club. The school was run like an army camp and many kids ran away. As an older pupil, I was expected to go and find the runaways and bring them back no matter what time it was. Laundry...
I was born in 1950 at 1/74 Garbett st. We moved to shard end in 1961
I often used to go back and visit my best mate who I called Johnny lemon? I can't remember his real surname. My wife lived around the corner though we never met until we were in our 30s. I have found memories of my young life...
I was a pupil at Nelson at school from 1955_1961. I remember the head was Mr English and was a minor loca celebrity. He once gave me threepence (1.5p) for getting a question right in assembly. Brings back a few memories when I see the (new) school.
