I was one of those kids with the cow horn handlebars, the big problem was there was a lot of glass in the cinders and you were forever getting punctures,
I was born in Highters Heath Lane in 1941 and remember the balloon barrage on the corner of Highters Heath and Maypole Lane. My earliest recollection was being carried to an underground shelter and the sound of the planes coming over.
My memories are fragmented Lyn but I do remember the entry between the houses led up to more houses at the back. Also although the house was basically a two up two down the front room was like Aladdins cave to me with a glass cabinet full of ornaments.
Thank you Lyn, sometimes photos are all we have to remind us of people and places long gone, that photo of yours showing my grandparents house is doing the rounds in our family now, such great memories.
