    First Birmingham coroner

I'm looking forward to giving a talk about the life and times of John Birt Davies, Birmingham's first borough coroner, this Saturday March 1st at 2pm in the Wolfson Centre at Birmingham Library. It's open to all and free but they ask people to register on EventBrite here...

    First Birmingham coroner

There's a chapter about John Birt Davies in my earlier book, A Stream of Lives, but I've also published a full length biography of him entitled Probing Deaths, Saving Lives, both available from Troubador Books

    First Birmingham coroner

    Birmingham's first coroner

Yes thanks, I saw that and the fascinating Iron Room blog - really helpful. I'll be covering the controversy about his appointment as coroner in my forthcoming book. It seems politics played a part, naturally!

    Birmingham's first coroner

On the trail of John Birt Davies, Birmingham's first coroner, I've written a blog about my experience of searching for traces of him in Birmingham that may be of interest to members of this forum. I'm writing his biography so I'd love to hear from anyone who knows anything about him
