I have no idea who Polly is. I have now found Nellie’s birth registration in final quarter of 1899 in Birmingham but on Genes Reunited the mothers maiden name is left blank. I have researched William Ward and Elizabeth Yates and the GRO that you have shown is for a Nelly Ward with those people... -

In the US my grandmother would be listed as Nellie Baker presumably as she moved to the the USA and lived in Bar Harbour Maine. She had married Gilbert Baker a good friend of my grandad Edgar James Millard who died sadly in the late 50s. Nellie and Gilbert moved back to the UK in the late 60s... -
