Always sad to see how nice it used to be. I'm 'only' fifty and from the inner city, so too young to have seen a more homogenous and clean Birmingham, where people still took pride in their stoop and appearance and everything seemed classier.

I'm pretty sure it is indeed 1970. My parents moved into Hodgson tower in 1970 and it's just about to be built in the photo, (it must have gone up quick!) - so it could be late 1969, but likely spring 1970, with the wheeler street shops already complete and the maisonettes on Guildford drive...

Slightly before my time, but I do believe it was 1968-1969 This is Lennox Street in 1968 and it still extends all the way up to New John Street.
