My grandad was the grounds keeper for the Oak house. He was called Albert Carter and he and my nan were given a house on Oak Road as part of the employment. My dad and his 2 brothers and sister lived in Oak Road from about 1960 to 1968 when they moved to Birmingham.
My grandad was the last grounds keeper for this pavilion. He lived in the house on the right side of the pic. He was Albert Carter. He retired in 1989 and the house on site was a council home and given as part of the job. He retired in Doversley Road and sadly passed away in December 1991 aged...
