    Wrensons shops

    My mum, Irene, worked at Wrenson's on Weoley Castle Square in the 1950s, so probably served you. She loved working there, the manager was George Crump. Mum used to live with Dad in Oxley Grove, then Gregory Avenue. Wish I could find a photo of Wrenson's on the Square.

    Was that the same youth centre located at the Northfield end of Green Meadow Road, situated almost opposite Cornbrook Road? This youth club was demolished years ago.

    Does anyone remember Yarnold's clothing shop in Alum Rock? Gran used to get all her clothes from there 'on the knock'.

    The long building in the background is the former Northfield Cinema. The end-building on the right was Jack Smith's, the barbers, which subsequently moved to the premises immediately to the left of the garage.

    My great grandfather, Harry Styles, lived in Blythe Street; he slipped on the snow in Ledsam Street, in January 1936, dying several weeks later as a result of his accident, aged 78 years.

    Hello! My grandfather, Herbert Styles, lived at 3/24 Blythe Street, a driver in the Royal Horse Artillery, serving in World War 1, previously in India. His name is misspelt here as Hubert. Anyone recall the Styles family, who subsequently lived in Springfield Street, Ladywood?
