    Byng Kenrick Girls' Grammar School

I have just read this and I remember your coming into Sheldon Library once when I worked there. I am not registered on this forum but my husband is because of his research into family history. I remember the speech lessons with Mrs Hardcastle. Your memories are accurate regarding those hats! Viv.

I started there in 1960 too. I have the long school photograph that was taken when I was in 4th year. Did you train to be an actor?

Laurie_B Many thanks for the Pathe film clip as my father is on it just for a few seconds. He was J.J.Gracie's driver. We don't have many photographs of him let alone film; he was always behind the camera.

    Roll-of-Honour Boer War link

Whilst researching our family history, my brother and I required further information regarding a family member who died during the Boer War in South Africa. He was serving in the Army Ordnance Corps. We found the information we required from the following, although things may have changed now as...

    Coventry road Police station.

I worked at Coventry Road, Hay Mills, and Acocks Green Police Stations from 1967 to 1974. I believe that the old Coventry Road nick was due for demolition in the 1930s but was cancelled...

    Stockland Coaches

My father was a coach driver at Stockland in the 30's, and did some continental trips. I understand some these were to the W.W.1 cemeteries and memorials for relatives. These excursions ceased at the outbreak of W.W.2. and he took employment at the G.E.C. at Witton on 11th Sept 1939.

    GEC WITTON WORKS

re G.E.C. witton. I'm new to the forum so apologies to all if mistakes are made. Seeing the posts about the G.E.C. reminds me that my father, William(Bill) Knight started working there on 11th Sept 1939, the outbreak of WW2 having prevented him continuing working as a coach driver at Stockland...
