17 Augustus Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham B15
I have only just come across this site. I lived at number 10 Augustus road from 1943 (it was the HQ of the local National Fire service then) but a bit later when I was 9 to 11 I used to meet a milkman from Fellows Dairy with his horse drawn cart and I delivered the milk to number 17. Auxiliary Fire Service
It was sometime in 1943 that my mother and I moved to 10 Augustus Road in Edgbaston. We lived in the lodge to the main house which was an area HQ of the NFS. I used to play with the chief's son on the Green Goddess type fire engine which was kept there. The house remained with the NFS until 1948...- Derek Faulkner
