no need to opologise the thread has created a bit of interest - they are dressed up for something special. gt.grand pop died in nechells in 1924 so the photo would have been taken early 1920's

I've just had my "rounds of the kitchen" My wife saw what I typed and said I was a old nong and presented me with her recipe book with heaps on pig trotters and sheep brains - she is also a fan of Nigela.
She said she is going to make bubble and squeak for me Sunday morning Boxing Day.

I remember as a young lad waking up to the smell of dads B & S on monday mornings - the left overs from the sunday roast. I had rice bubbles.
dad also liked sheep brains - pig trothers - lambs fry - and tripe !!!

This is a photo of my great grandfather take abt 1885. Can anyone please identify the uniform?
His name is William Eggington b. 1858 d 1925 I have no record or account of any war service.
I understand he worked most of his live at the witton gas works

i'm not sure. i'm still finding out stuff on my uk side. the hicks side of my family tree is still in the very early research stage. my great grandma phoebe hicks married william egginton from birmingham and from what shera has just given me, phoebe's siser sarah married william's...
im interested in if possible, 20th century census details. Enoch died in 1916 - where was he in 1911?, also his children Mary Enoch and Sarah where were they living, after phoebe moved to aust.

I'm looking for the family Hicks. My great grandma was Phoebe Hicks b. in 1868 in Newinvention Staffordshire she moved to Australia and died in 1954. I know her father was Enoch born abt 1841 he was married to Ann Tarbuck.

what does the word "pop" mean? Is it beer, or other alcohol, water or tea ?
Is it a birmingham word?
