    The Outer Circle

Hi, That pic brings back a lot of memories. The photographer must have been standing right by the bus stop where I used to get off the bus to go to school down Cartland Road. 64 years since I last did that, but somehow it doesn't seem that long! Kind regards Dave

Bakehouse in Yardley (mid C20th) help please

Hi, I believe the Granby Road bakery was built in the 60s, and was originally called the Homestead Bakery. Later it became Hovis, and I think it shut down in the 2010's. Kind regards Dave

    High Street, Saltley

Hi Mike, I remember that Barclays Bank was still there at some time in the 1970s. However, by either late 70's or early 80's the bank had closed, and the premises were occupied by a centre for unemployed workers. Kind regards Dave

    Birmingham silver makers marks

Hi, Not easy to see the maker's mark - the monarch's head and the lion are furthest from the top of the spoon. The Birmingham mark is plain enough, but perhaps the date letter is clearer looking at the spoon itself. It should be a fancy capital A. The king would be William IV. Maybe shining a...

    Paradise Street

Hi, Benacre in Suffolk is next to the village of Wrentham. I seem to remember that Benacre Street and Wrentham Street in Brum are also next to each other! Kind regards Dave

    OLD AND NEW PHOTOGRAPHS

Hi, It was originally Washwood Heath Police Station, I remember it well, - I had a caution there back in the 50's in my misspent youth! Kind regards Dave

    High Street, Saltley

Hi The photo of high Street looks like the junction of Saltley High Street and Metropolitan Road. If it is, would the pub on the right have been the Adderley Arms? Kind regards Dave

    Washday Copper Boilers Mangles

Hi Richard, We used to feed the buttons through just past the right hand end of the rollers. This position was very close to the gears, and you had to be very careful not to catch your fingers. Lots of near misses! Kind regards Dave

    Birmingham buses

Hi, And later still, the 99 route from Lanchester Way Smiths Wood to the city Centre. It had a special L shaped roadway built into the corner of Lanchester Way and Auckland Drive for the buses to turn and park, and a Bundy Clock. The Bundy clock went many years ago, but as I left in 2017 I...

    The Pullman.

Hi, Many thanks for the replies. So it was the old Timberley pub. I knew it had changed to the Chester Arms, but I didn't know it became the Pullman. My daughter will be delighted, and my memories are now updated! Kind regards Dave.

    The Pullman.

Hi, My daughter is certain that she can remember a pub called the Pullman on Chelmsley Wood. Probably in or around "area 10". Now I lived in area 11 for many years and I can't remember one. Can anyone help? Kind regards Dave
