    Driving in Days Gone By

    My first job in the motor trade was at Warwick Road Filling Station in Tysley where we had to double up as petrol pump attendants. Many drivers would only have a couple of quid in 3 star petrol and a shot Redex , We also had to ask if the customer wanted their windsceen washing!

    Many happy memories of Church Road ,family home was 312 we lived there from early 70s till early 80s my parents brought the house from my Dads Sister in Law . Nice to hear about Holloways Hardware shop Susan maybe you remember my two cousins Margret and Christine .

    Yes that's correct I can remember the floor of the butchers collapsing, from what I can remember customers were waiting to be served and the floor gave way and they fell into the cellar below, I had been sent on an errand to The Yew Tree shops and saw it first hand and remember the Birmingham...

    Just after the newsagents I think there was a hardware shop Holloways ? and a gents hairdressers and fruit and veg shop . I remember Prams n Things at the time there were still houses in between the shops at the Yew Tree mid sixties

    Co-Op, Stoney Lane, Yew Tree

    Above the shop I think is where I went to a youth club every week in the late 1960s all very innocent only pop to drink and music to listen to simple happy days .

    Bakehouse in Yardley (mid C20th) help please

    The Night Out, Holloway Head

    Great photo , Went to The Night Out with my new girlfriend it think it would have been around 1980 ish and we saw Jim Davison and all I can say is his material was not impressive to my new Lady Friend. Their was no happy ending it didnt last !
