    I think it may have been 2/ 68 Hospital Street now...not 286. Looking closer at the 1911 census there is an ink stroke between 2 and 6.

    My nan Barbara was in Wenman St when it was bombed. I believe she said that many families were sadly killed and the following morning the back yard area was a great big pond...ie the hole from the bomb was filled with water...

    Hi Phil, she was born in 1935 and lived there for at least ten years as she told me about the street being bombed in WW2. Then she and her family moved to Gospel Lane. Im sure the Crown was frequented by my great grandfather as he liked his drink...a bit too much Ive heard...
