    My Great uncle Jack Potter had an allotment there, it backed into the canal, which my brother and I used to climb up. A break from living in the centre and of Birmingham.

    Yes Miss Lester was lovely, I was very happy there. We moved when I was 10 and I went to Yardley Wood School for a year, but they seemed behind and I did the same lessons again, I passed the 11+ and Art exam and went then to Moseley School of Art and Craft. St.Thomas's was a really good school.

    You are right it was Edgbaston not Ladywood or Lee bank. I went there, as did my sister and brother, Pauline and David Wakelam. We lived in Cregoe street.

    It was St.Thomas’s Church of England School, on the corner of Granville Street and Bath Row, Edgbaston, Birmingham 15. I attended there in the infants from 1955 till 1961 and lived in Cregoe Street.
