    So we have a pre 1865 mention of the Station Inn. We are happy that the adjacent railway station dates back to 1862 so perhaps it is a year or so older than we thought.     Is that 30 shillings per week? We had changed to decimal a little before I started learning about money but, I am aware that a shilling equivalent is 5p and therefore that's £1.50. Would I be correct in thinking that inflation would make it around £250 per week today?

    In the book that I referrred to above, it references Birmingham Daily Post 13 July 1865 (Mrs Richards landlady) I can't check the newspaper archives because it requires a Find My Past subscription which I don't currently have.

    The Station Hotel as it was called appears to have been built in 1865. There is a book called The Public Houses of Sutton Coldfield 1800-1914 by Stephen Roberts. ISBN 9781789967388 . It's mention on Page 56
