Dear Friends,

My grandmother lived at 12, Woodfield Road, Balsall Heath. That is the address on her marriage certificate dated 30th. January 1915

Unfortunately on a recent visit to the area to do some more research I found no No.12 as it looks as though a whole row has been demolished at some point to make a greenfield site from the junction of Belgrave Road along Woodfield Road.

Can anyone tell me when this demolition took place?

Many thanks.

Hi David,

I would have thought that No 12 would have been quite close to the Highgate Rd end of Woodfield Rd and it was certainly before Woodfield Crescent. It would also be located on the east side

I would think that these houses were demolished around the same time as our old house in Larches St and that would be towards the early middle of the seventies.

Hi, Phil,

Thanks for that. I'm sorry I did mean the Highgate Road end. It looks to me as though a whole terrace from 2 - 12 has been demolished.

Kind regards,

David
