Could it be New Place in Stratford - the garden on which Shakespeare's old house once was? It's on Chapel Lane so I guess there must have been a church nearby?
There is a ladder in the photo. Is someone repairing the church or stealing the lead? Or is it that window cleaner again that we see featured in many pub photos?
Thanks, I now think that my uncle may have been on a car trip. Ashby Castle, Jewry Wall, Heather Hall and a pint at the Four Counties at No Man’s Heath.
This is the picture of Heather Hall taken by my uncle. It was at Heather in Leics, but I am not sure it still exists today.
The was a story concerning my mother's side of the family involving the Hall.
Heather Hall seems to more to the right than the previous picture. It was subject to a fire in 1938, and the picture taken by my uncle around 1970 it looks worse for wear. From the Google Earth picture it looks as if has much altered ?
