What Ford Cars Are These ?

I think that they are the Mark V Cortina. The Mk IV and V were similar, but I know the V had bigger indicator lights.

Def Mk5 Cortinas and, nearest the camera, Mk1 Fiestas. A couple of MK3 Escorts and 2 Capris. Don't see any Grannys tho'

All of which show what I know about the model for cars you will be tell me next that they have stopped making the Bull Nosed Lorry,
you would turn the steering wheel about twenty times and the wheels would move about half an inch

Lots of Flicker uses have deleted their accounts now there a limet to the number of uploads. Flicker now want to charge even though there are platforms that are free.

Maybe gone into the Dagenham dustbin!

Hi Radiorails,

I remember years ago when I was last in the motor trade there used to be an old saying, which went " IF YOU CAN'T AFFORD A CAR BUY A FORD". It appears that this was a derogatory term applied to Ford Cars in respect of their poor build quality & reliability.

Lozellian.

Working for a Vauxhall dealer back in 1960 I can definitely confirm that Fords weren't the worst vehicles around at the time at least not for corrosion as Vauxhall were.

off thread but in support of the above comment.....
Working in car finance in the 1970s the worst cars on failed HP arrangements were Vauxhalls. When returned many had severe body rot problems and poor mechanics e.g.Vauxhall Viscount. They were hard to sell on for a good price at auction compared to Fords. The fuel crisis in 1973 was a particularly bad time when hirers couldnt afford fuel costs on larger cars and began terminating their hire agreements. Even harder to sell on if the vehicle was returned without its petrol rationing coupons!

Sneaking off thread slightly. My old boss at Claribell coaches, Ron Lees, had a Vauxhall Ventura which I used to take fuel out to one of his coaches broken down near Watford Gap services. Realising that I needed to get there quickly I wasn't too concerned how much petrol I used getting there, on my return Ron was devastated to find that his almost full tank was getting quite near to empty. The fuel consumption on those six cylinder Vauxhalls wasn't the best.
