A Podcast can be any audio, visual, audio/visual file which has been prepared for download onto a computer, or suitable mobile device such as an MP3 player or Ipod. You can listen at home, or take them out with you on the portable players. You dont need any special hardware if your going to listen at home.
Some radio shows are turned into Podcasts by the BBC and other broadcasters, and cover a whole range of media types and styles. News, Music, History, Stories, Comedy the list goes on and on.
You can download them usng a websites own link, or by using dedicated software like that found in Itunes. Itunes also has a good search engine with visual links to the very many feeds that are available.

ITUNES IS FREE TO DOWNLOAD AND USE. BY CLICKING THE ITUNES STORE BUTTON YOU CAN THEN FIND LINKS TO THE PODCASTS YOU WANT AND THEN SUBSCRIBE TO THOSE FEEDS, THIS CAN THEN AUTOMATICALLY DOWNLOAD THOSE PODCASTS YOU ARE SUBSCRIBED TO, OR YOU CAN JUST BROWSE WHATS AVAILABLE AND TAKE THOSE YOU WANT USING THE SEARCH FACILITY.
