My mom hadn't been a clippie on the buses for long in the 50's, when a young lad of about 10 or 11 got on at Aston Cross and asked mom if she could put him off when they got to Victoria Road Baths. When the bus reached Salford Bridge he was still there, oh Im sorry she said, I'll put you off on the way back, he ended up going round three times, in the end she gave him half a crown and put him off at Aston Cross and he went home, poor lad he never did get to go swimming, but was happy with the 2/6d.

I wish I had been, with that sort of money floating around swimming would have to wait:D
