GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN R.I.P.
our party was held in Parliament Street in the middle of the road by Greggs shop I think it was organised by Mrs Gregg and Mr Carter it was Mr Carter who looked after the entertaiment and the bonfire he was dreessed as a clown I believe and was the life and soul of the entertainment

VE day celebrations

I lived in Copeley Street off Burlington Street, which was a cul-de-sac,
the day before all the women in the street were busy making jellies, trifles, and cakes and I remember quite a few were altogether in Mrs. Ford's kitchen.

On the day itself the men of the street put up the bunting, and manhandled tables into the street which were placed in the middle of the road, we had a piano and this was rolled into place against the blank brick
wall between two bay windows, I don't remember who the pianist was but every one had a great time after the tables were cleared and a large bonfire lit in the middle of the road.
