Tyburn Road Bus Works

Not at Wythall, the plan was to have it but there has been no sign of it coming yet. There is a site for it if it comes!

At least I saved the coat of arms thanks to the Site Manager, Colliers, Palletline and a few other people.
Seen here being unloaded at Wythall Transport Museum. Will be rebuilt when funds are raised (hint hint )

Hi folks. Had a post off Lloyd Penfold who is a member of the forum and well known by most of us. This is the post.............

"Hi Chris. The plan to re erect the Tyburn Road Coat of Arms is now under way, a site has been agreed, foundation hole dug and the concrete Plinth it will stand on has been cast - but (there is always a 'but', isn't there?) we have decided that we are going to have a specialist to construct the stonework for insurance and safety considerations, which is going to cost about £4000. We could do with help and ideas on the fundraising and considering your input into saving the stonework I wondered if you had any ideas on how to go about it. All our current fundraising efforts are going into the restoration of a 1931 Birmingham Corporation bus, which when finished in about 3 years will have cost around £300,000. If you do have any ideas please get back to me first, as the trustees have to authorise any use of the museums name in cases like this."

If anyone has any ideas for fund raising let us know.I suggested raffle tickets.
If you would like to donate something contact Wythall Transport Musium

They need your fund raising expertise Lyn :)

thanks for the vote of confidence froth but i only do raffles lol...one thing has sprung to mind..what about a fun run / walk..starting and finishing at the museum...sponsorship forms and also collecting buckets along the route..not in this weather of course..its snowing here...maybe you could suggest that to lloyd..oh and maybe involve a couple of local schools in the run..transport museums are very popular with the youngsters

Hi folks, here's the prepared base for the coat of arms - its about 9 feet square when erected so the base goes down about four feet!

hi lloyd thanks for the update and photo...i had forgotton just how big the coat of arms is and had to be taken down in pieces so no wonder it needs a strong base..i know £4000 is a lot of money but considering it has to be put back together by experts and then placed on the base i reckon thats a good price for all the work and the time involved.....cant wait to see it erected it will look great

all the best
