Travelling the 'wrong way' over Camp Hill Flyover.

I actually witnessed such an incident at first hand. I was working a service from the Bull Ring bus station on a summer evening in the early 1970's, the bus itself was a saloon.

We had just reached the right hand curve at the top of the flyover when a black Rover 3 Litre was spotted coming towards us.
I called my mate up to see the spectacle which she did accompanied by several passengers. By the double digit finger gestures in use by the driver of the car, I was under the impression that he thought I should reverse back down into Deritend and into the path of any approaching vehicles.

However, after much counter gesticulating and Anglo-Saxon phrases from passengers and bus crew, the driver gave up the unequal struggle and reversed back towards Camp Hill.

All in days work 'on the Red'.
