There is new book out about someone older Blues fans will remember well, he played against them for
Man City in the 1956 FA Cup final Bert Trautmann. Ex German paratrooper and POW who made his home
here after the war.He played the final sixteen minutes with a broken neck. Bert now 87 remains a hero in
Manchester, in 2004 he was awarded the OBE for his work in improving Anglo/German relations, he
said "I have had so much kindness, friendliness and understanding shown to me, I am glad I stayed.
