He was an ex 'Central Grammar School' pupil. He married 'Topsy Jane Legge' a girl from Erdington who made several films but had a troubled life.

very sad news..some will know that tony directed one of the most powerful and thought provoking tv programmes i have ever seen...cathy come home 1966 set in birmingham...for those who have not seen it it certainly is food for thought

Yes, I remember Cathy Come Home - some of it was shot in Birmingham wasn't it.
yes sparks some shots made in hingeston st and also prescott st...both streets hold an interest for me as our dad spent the first year of his life living at the rose and crown pub hingeston st and my gt gt grandfather lived in prescott st...
