Thomas Walker

My grandfather Wilfred Cross worked for Mr Thomas Walker until he retired in his 70s about 40 years ago. The family were the Ferrers Walker family who lived at Baddesley Clinton. They made buckles and fastenings and ammunitions during the war. He always talked about Mr Walker Senior and Mr Walker Junior - the latter taking over the business when his father died. A visit to Baddesley Clinton a few years ago revealed Mr Walker Junior had also died. the property is in the hands of the National Trust. Bill Goode (a former colleague) became the MD of Thomas Walker and was there when it fell into administration in around 2009. My older sister did a GCSE history project on Baddesley Clinton whilst it was still in the family's possession invited there via my Grandad who had an invitation from Mr Walker for her to visit. My grandad worked at the factory throughout the war and into 1980s and was a company director with company car and tied house (had no idea such things existed). My mum used to sew trouser tops on her machine with some specialist fittings to grip the shirts and hook and eye closures when I was young. hope this of interest to anyone researching the family..https://www.nationaltrustcollections.org.uk/object/343128
