Gone but not forgotten R.I.P.
That was the place where I first got into 'rock'n'roll. I went and watched the film 'The girl can't help it' starring Eddie Cochrane. I was only about 1o yrs old but I became hooked.
A sorry state...but what I remember of the Palladium was that it was one of the hardest cinemas to "bunk into".Some photos from the inside of the Palladium taken recently
History Originally opened on 15th November 1911 as the Hockley Picture House, it had 506 seats. It was re-built and enlarged & then re-opened as the New Palladium Cinema on 8th November 1922. The opening film was Isobel Elsom in "The Game of Life". The 3-storey building had a tiled mansard...www.28dayslater.co.uk
