The Team at BHF is
Jim/Postie , the Gaffer
Warren his son and our technical wizard.
and the moderators
Alberta, Astoness/Lyn,ChrisM, mikejee and Morturn.
I have been a mod for over 20 years and this team now is one of the best.

The forum has hundreds more members than when I first joined and moderating is becoming almost a full time 'job' for all of us.
Part of the problem is offtopic posting when members stray from the thread heading.
Another problem is contentious posting which sadly results in some members being removed.

The moderating team have their own section of the forum and when we find a post that is one of the above we soft delete, it is then only visible to us. we then discuss it and more often than not the soft deletion has to become permanent.
Sadly we are getting more and more of them and one post recently resulted in a member being banned.

Please make our roll a bit easier and try to stick to the thread heading because if you go astray other members will also follow and add offtopic posts and we begin to tear our hair out:):)
Thanks Alberta

thanks alberta could i just add that we all go off topic to some degree...i have done it but it does become frustrating when as with the old st pics thread we ask to stay on topic but then the following post is off topic resulting in the thread being closed until we have time to delete them or move them which is very time consuming and it is really unfair to other members who are waiting to post something of real interest....some may think our team are robots that can spend every waking hour on the forum...not so...we all have our own lives..our family and family problems but if we do not try and keep the threads flowing nicely and in some order then the forum will end up a rambling stream of posts with no order and make no sense...a bit akin to facebook...what we do we do for the good of the forum and its members because without the team there would be no bhf...

thank you

lyn

Once again we are having a problem with off topic posts.
This forum is primarily for Birmingham history but to give members the opportunity to share other subjects with others,we have General Discussion. all we ask is for posters to add posts relating to the title.
Some threads go very much off topic, currently the In our Garden 2023 thread.
In future it may be that your off topic posts will be deleted to keep the thread running smoothly and on topic and make life easier for all the hard working Moderators.
