The Awaking Forest

The sun, a shimmering ball of unspun gold
Sends shafts of light to dapple the forest glade,
Where long before the days forenoon
She gently ushers away the nights fading moon.
And whiskered nose twitches this way and that
While bright eyes search the leafy mould
Then four pink feet all swift and true
Carry a mouse through long stems tipped with blue.
The forest has spoken all the nightlong
As the chilled breeze sang her lullaby to all.
Now birds high on the wing sing in joyous lay
Invite dwellers of this sanctuary to venture out to play.
Some to remember the squeals they heard
As wire and steel traps broke through bone and neck.
The poacher with years of familiarity softly trod
To gather tools and bodies off the blood stained sod.
The forest where lie hidden treasures to discover
Guards the babe who picks up nut and veined leaf.
The deer and the furred rabbit eat the same grass
While badger in his set sleeps; awaiting the hours to pass.
The sun, a shimmering ball of unspun gold
Travels the same path as the rainbows colourful arc
While the child seeks for wonders still hidden
To those whose minds are closed and all remains forbidden.
Soft breeze renewed, ripples in playful mood
The dark surface of a hidden pond where Willows caress
And gently kiss reflected sky, where sail the billowing clouds
On seas imperceptible water, ships as soft as natures Thistledown.
Water boatmen whos weight barely dimples the waters skin,
Skate in dizzy circles as if winter had breathed its icy breath.
While the babe in innocent devotion, offers back her found treasure
To the trees with uplifted arms and sounds voiced in joyful pleasure.

When I think about it, I read through the verse on this site to catch up. Sometimes one is found and read for the first time. There are many now. I really liked this. Thankyou.
