The ladies salver trophy (Rosewater Dish) presented at Wimbledon was made by Elkingtons in 1864 and first presented in 1886. The scenes on the salver have nothing to do with tennis. A nice link between B'ham and Wimbledon. Wonder if any of the other trophies are products of Birmingham too ? Viv.

Good to hear that Carolina.

There's supposed to be a similar Rosewater Dish to the Wimbledon trophy held at the B'ham Assay Office. It was also made by Elkingtons.

Both the Gentlemen's Singles Trophy and the Ladies Single Trophy for the Wimbledon championships were made by Elkingtons of Birmingham. N.B. Typo in #1 should not read Pilkingtons. Dave.
