l believe my family had welsh gypsy ancestors.l have established that my great grandmother was indeed born in wales, and her sister was living in cheshire in the 1901 census, married to a thomas Ten.this may be a spelling mistake, but wondered if it could be a gipsy surname.

hi mah, the name should read TEW.

thomas joseph tew was married 1899 jul-sep warwick 6d 1193

i think this is probably yours but the two women listed for that marriage margaret jane smith or clara andrews. on the 1901 his wife is sarah.

The Thomas Tew born in Leamington was Thomas John and Thomas john Tew married Sarah Davies,Sept 1899, Newtown,Montgomery/Powis
ref. 11b 248

thank you shera and alberta for your input.my daughter had another look at census records and realised that the name was tew and not ten.my great grandmother is shown as davis on my grandmothers birth cert. but she was sarah davies sister. Margaret.
