Jean, Many buildings were adapted as temporary hospitals during the wars, large public buildings and private homes were converted into hospitals to cope with the amount of war wounded arriving in the City. The Long, Long Trail website https://www.1914-1918.net/southerngen.htm gives some idea how things were organised.
