An old school friend of mine from Aston Commercial has written a novel - I haven't read it yet but he tells me it is a saga from the last days of steam ships through the wars including parts from his memory of growing up in Birmingham during WW2, covering love, romance and murder. Some pages can be found on www.amazon.co.uk - type in David Trenbirth - Taking the High Ground, try page 23 for some of the Birmingham references/
