Sutton Park Station

I thought I had read that this was on the list of requests for reopening of Beeding closes and was a probable. Go to Outube and there are lots of goods trains movements.

Good that the line still exists and , you never know, may yet get passenger services again
The Wikipedia. page on the line includes:
"In February 2008 it was announced that Birmingham City Council, Network Rail and Centro were launching a feasibility study to assess the possibility of re-opening the line to passenger services. In January 2015 the line was put on hold for reopening to passenger trains.
In March 2020, a bid was made to the Restoring Your Railway fund to get funds for a feasibility study into reinstating the line. This bid was unsuccessful.
In February 2021 it was announced that land had been purchased in Aldridge near the site of its former railway station as part of plans led by Mayor of the West Midlands Andy Street and Aldridge-Brownhills MP Wendy Morton to reopen at least part of the line."

The line to Sutton Park that crosses over the Sutton to Lichfield line will be closed for engineering work over Easter as will the Cross City Line. Part of the work to be undertaken will be the replacement of the rail bridge. There are two bridges here a metal railway bridge and a brick footpath bridge alongside

Ground level shots of the bridge - I wondered why the pathway down the side of the track had been closed off:-

Wonder if they will keep the grafitti?

There was talk of a passenger service to Aldridge, but that plan has yet to progress, and may not do so. Castle Bromwich Station belongs to the new group of suggestions for opening, however.

New rail bridge is now in situ - should be open for business on Tuesday. Finishing touches were being made when me and the dog visited earlier today.
From High St it is easy to see where the old bridge was replaced:-

Moving "up a bridge" behind Midland Drive more detail can be seen:-

And if you explore a bit further you can get to a point where you are virtually sitting on top of it!

The lower line is the cross city line just north of Sutton Coldfield station. The upper line is the goods line that goes through Sutton Park - about half a mile to the east of the old Sutton Park station and about 300 yards to the west of the old Sutton Town station.

If you look carefully under the bridge you can see a number of the pulley blocks that used to facilitate the manual signal cables from Sutton Station box:-

Here you can see the monster crane that sat in the grounds of Sutton College to swing old and new bridges wherever they needed to go:-
