Summer Meet Up 2 July 2016 At The Bull

Ok Froth. Hope you can make it. The Step accepts your challenge. Better get yourself in training!

Note to Lyn - we'll be needing those crash mats you mentioed ! Viv.

viv if i can make it and froth is there then i am staying down the other end of the room..do not fancy him crash landing on me like he did before  lol

I am trying to decide on subject matter for 2 paintings for the raffle, over the years I seem to have covered most of Birmingham's more well known sites, if anybody has any suggestions will be interested to hear, prefer it to be Birmingham orientated, and possibly from the past but not essential. Eric

Hi Eric. Hope things are well with you. Please make sure you don't overdo things to get the paintings done. It's more important that you properly recover from your eye op. A few suggestions
  • Selly Manor & Minworth Greaves
  • The Roundhouse
  • St Paul's Church & Square
Whatever the subject you choose, I'm sure someone on here will volunteer to go and take photos for you. Take care Eric. Viv.

As Viv Says, don't overdo it. Assuming that the buildings don't necessarily have to be still there, how about The Drovers Arms (perhaps without all the traffic paraphenalia)

Frothy have recently painted the Garrison Tavern (attached) for a member, not to mention The Bull, Jewellers Arms, Barton Arms and umpteen other pubs, at the moment I fancy Saint Phillips and the Hall of Memory (painted them both before but they make nice subjects) I'll give pubs a rest for a while !!! Looking forward to meet. Cataract removal only takes 3 or 4 days to recover. EricGarrison Tavern (2).jpg

Hi Eric. I think the important thing is you should go with the subjects you enjoy. But you now have a nice list to tap into if ever you get bored!! Viv.

Thanks for suggestions, now more confused than ever, like the idea of St Pauls Square, saw a lot of that
when attending RBSA Gallery in Brooke St, its a matter of getting the right view, Town Hall is a subject I have yet to tackle, once again it is getting the right view, oh well, I have got nearly 7 weeks, less my weeks holiday next week. Eric

hi eric a couple of years back i was trying to find old photos of st pauls square for a friend of my daughters who owns a bar there but found it very difficult..the couple i did find were not very good..not many about so if you decide on it you may have to look at the modern day view...

This is about the best photo of St Pauls I've found so far.

So the word's out: the Peaky Blinders Cup Challenge is officially scheduled for the
2 July at the Bull on Price Street. Look forward to seeing BHF members who are up to the challenge. Get yourselves along there from 12.30 onwards. Viv.

I hope the challenge does not involve stripping before entry to see if we have any Russian gangster tattoos.
