Stoker And Stokes Families

Pauline

New Member
The Stoker family originated in Brewood, Staffordshire and moved to Birmingham. William Henry Stoker bn. 1860 Duddeston married Ada Elizabeth Stokes (bn. 1865 Birmingham) on September 21 1884 at
St. Thomas Church, Bath Row, Birmingham. Is anyone able to help with
either family. Confusion starts after William changed his name to Stokes.
Thanks very much.

I'm a Stokes

I'm a Stokes but descended from those with West Bromwich background. However, they still could be related across the border.
My Grandfather was William married to Annie.
11 children - the eldest being my father William Herbert who married Nellie Crofts.
Family business at Lambert Street West Bromwich.
My father's business eventually in Oldbury.
By the time I was born my parents had moved to Ebrington Road West Bromwich . When dad eventually retired my parents moved to Claverley near Bridgenorth.
They had four girls:
Olwen Stokes (in Australia)
Valerie Stokes (Claverley then Bridgenorth)
Diana Stokes (Solihull)
Anne Stokes (yours truly) (Reading
