Whenever our dad remembered Aston now and again he would talk of the ATV studios and the celebrities living it up at The Star pub across the road.On one occasion he got into a slanging match with none other than a drunken Kent Walton (who! - he could be heard commentating the wrestling on world of sport) because he wouldn't drive him,and i'm told a very sozzled Noele Gordon home that afternoon. Also of the time that dad took our Steve down there and asked Mr Acker Bilk (again, who! - broomstick blower) if he would shake Steve's hand because it was his birthday. Mr Bilk kindly obliged, secretly passing a ten bob note over at the same time.It must of made his day.
