St.Georges Angling club

Seeing another thread about sports cups reminded me of one that's been handed down in our family, It was won by my Great Grandfather, A NEWEY 1887. I can't find where St.Georges Angling society was based but he was definitely a Brummie

That's interesting Pedrocut, I wonder what happened to the pub

Newspaper reports described as one of the oldest birmingham angling societies. There seems to be some question as to its base , as seen below.

i would have thought that the club would have chosen a pub that was actually in the area of st george as there was plenty to choose from but obviously not.

I expect the angling club ceased to exist decades ago, Not sure of my Great Grandfathers first name but dads was Arthur Alfred so I guess it would be one or the other of those. The cup is totally hand engraved including the pattern but it has no makers mark or anything. if you flick it with your finger it rings like a bell and the sound lingers quite a bit.
