Newspapers : Newspaper Archive new issues of local journals

I was reading the article in the The Birmingham Mail May 26th 1945 about Himmler's Burial in an unmarked grave and Soldiers sworn to secrecy. I am a bit puzzled as to why his Brain was removed before burial...any answers?

Apparently there is evidence that many murders have abnormalities of their brains (https://www.amenclinics.com/blog/7-lessons-from-murderers-brain-scans/). The real evidence comes from brain scans, which, of course, were not available in the 1940s. But possibly it was hoped then to see differences by more crude methods of examination
Interesting Stuff Mike, Thank you, but I doubt this was thought about when they took his brain back then, just seems an odd thing to do.

Access to the Newspaper Archive through Findmypast is FREE this weekend until 6th June

"To celebrate the Platinum Jubilee, our entire newspaper archive is free to view until 6 June. That's a whole week of free access to 300 years of history."

This thread is really for dissemination of new papers available in the newspaper archive ( as the title says). While the extra comments will be of interest to many, they do not really fit the subject of the forum, could they be kept to a minimum

On another thread the complete digitisation of Aris's Birmingham gazette was mentioned. It looks like it has arrived on the archive website. These issues have now been added

Aris’s Birmingham Gazette1741, 1746, 1761, 1772, 1791, 1798, 1800-1801, 1803-1804, 1808-1809, 1813, 1817

The ones Mike lists are on the site below. Registration and searches are free but you need to pay to see the whole article.

I am trying to find details of an event in Alcester in the early 1960's.

Can anyone suggest a local newspaper that may have been around at that time?

many thanks...

The newspaper archives have early issues (up till 1912) of the Alcester chronicle. I do not know how loog it lasted. At Present there is the Redditch & Alcester indicator, but I di not know how long that has been going for. It is likely that the Birmingham papers would have news from Alcester
