Smith/Goode

Born a Brummie
Trying to find a marriage between Emily Smith and Henry Goode

They are together in 1901 census as Emily and Henry Goode.

In 1891 she married Samuel Smith after having 5 children by him!!!!! But they are nowhere to be found
on the 1881 or 1871 census. Samuel died Jan 1882.

Emily was born in Coventry 1849 to John and Caroline Rigby and they were in Duddeston in1861 but seem to vanish after that until 1891 when she was with Samuel!!!!!!

Can anyone please help with this puzzle please? It's driving us bonkers :idiot2:

Many thanks :)

 Rowan am I being thick or is that meant to be 1861 that she married Sam Smith?
Coz your dates don't match your statment too well.

Chris

Sorry for the confusion Chris :-[

Emily was born 1849 in Coventry to John and Caroline RIGBY

In 1851 they were in Bilston at 36 Wood Street Emily age 2yrs

In 1861 they were living in Duddeston at 142 Cromwell street age 12yrs.

Emily vanishes then until 1891 when she has become MRS SAMUEL SMITH and they were living at
Bright Street Aston.

They must have been living "in sin" before, as all of their children were born before their marriage!!!!
2 others, maybe from from another marriage, making 7 in all.

In 1892 Samuel SMITH dies.

In1901 Emily is living with Henry GOODE as Emily GOODE but no marriage can be found!!!!!!

We are unable to find either Emily's or Henry's marriage or death.

So, where was Emily when the 1871 and 1881 census was taken? And what name was she living
under??

Hope this makes sense (it's me age you know :-[) :2funny:

Thanks Chris and sorry again :-[

 No need to apologize Rowan, it was the statement on the first post that I couldn't understand (Sam married 1891 but had died in 1882). Thanx for clearing that one up. :2funny:

Head scratching!!!!!!!!!! :crazy2:

The children's name are:

Clara Elizabeth (Lizzie)
Emily (Millie)
Albert
Gertrude and Caroline (twins b 1890)

Henry and William we think are from another marriage by either Emily (Rigby) or Samuel (Smith)!!! :-\

This is so frustrating. Emily may have had 2,3 or even more "relationships".Naughty Girl!!!

Samuel was a brass founder

Thanks girls for helping
