Taken from A royal Town by Hilda Moss
"Sir Ralph Bracebridge had a grandaughter called Alice, whose home had been at Kingsbury Hall, at a time when the Ardens of Pedimore had built another fine house, Park Hall at Castle Bromwich. Alice met John, the eldest son of the Peddimores, and they fell in love. John's father was a stern and haughty autocrat who considered the Bracebridge family beneath the Peddimore family, so he ordered his son to have no more to do with Alice. Alice was very unhappy, so her father took it upon himself to do something about the situation. One night he called upon his retainers and they surrounded Park Hall, creeping so silent that no one awoke, they found away inside the Hall and then kidnapped John, who was then carried away to Kingsbury, a willing prisoner for the love of Alice. John's father chased after them, friends calmed his anger and persuaded him to agree to the betrothal of the young couple. To mark the reconciliation Lord Bracebridge made to Lord Peddimore the gift of his best horse. John and Alice were happily married, later they went to live at the King's Court, and John became Lord of the Bedchamber to Henry VII"
