Ash Road, Saltley

I'm curious as to why my mother's family moved from Crawford St. to Ash Road. She says it seemed like a posh place compared to Crawford St. So. I'm wondering did something happen around 1940 to make this possible? and who lived at 44 Ash Road before them?

Fox and Goose Washwood Heath

My earliest memory was catching a Tram from the Fox and Goose to city centre with my mother. My next is the Baggott Island watching the Trams turn around on the Island as it had a turn table in the middle, Im not sure if its still there as all they seemed to do was fill it in or so it seemed.

Fox St in the old Italian Quarter in town, my grandmother was born here in 1908. I have the book Bella Brum, which has photos of Bartholomew st, but not Fox St, wondering if anyone has one? Many thanks.

I have this address for someone living there in 1931. I can find William Street easily enough on census returns, electoral registers, etc, but no mention of Oak Place. Has anyone heard of it?

The Square was for a long time one of the most prestigious addresses in Town. By my reckoning it is now under The Priory Queensway, lost in the 1870s development of Corporation Street area. What might be interesting and useful is if the forum can identify the people that lived in the Square...

Red House Road Yardley

Red House Road / Yardley Fields Road, Stechford

Does anyone remember the big House at the end of Red House Road, off Yardley Fields Road? There was a dirt road from Yardley Fields Road through to Manor Road Recreation Ground and on the right was a big detached house owned by a Miss Davies. Back in the 50s it was falling down round her ears...

Salisbury Transmission also had a depot built i think late 60s-early 70s on the corner of OLd Bromford Lane this has since been demolished and is now a housing estate. I,m trying also to recall when the new bridge was built on the Old Walsall Rd i think it was early 70s maybe 71-72 Dek
