SHIRL (a night at the Plaza)

Oisin

gone but not forgotten
SHIRL

Shirl,
She was the girl
I met at the Plaza
And took for a twirl.
With her long, shapely legs
And blonde lacquered hair
No wonder I felt attracted to her.

I remember the moment
That instant in time
When I felt her body
Pressed against mine
The thrill of it all
I’ll never forget
How we smooched round the floor
To the Alan Price Set.

I chatted her up
As the music played on
Asking with interest,
“Where are you from?”
“Dudley,” she said
with a smile in her eyes.
“Really?” I said,
Thinking: That’s bloody miles!

But when the sounds stopped
I was still feeling keen
Of all the girls there
She was the best I had seen
In the soft focussed half-light
She appeared quite a dish
So I plucked up my courage
And gave her a kiss.

The heat of her cheek
Held up against mine,
The scent of her perfume
Through the passage of time,
All seem as fresh
As they did on that night
When I wrapped my arms round her
And drew her up tight.

She responded with a passion
That left me breathless
As I peered down at the cleavage
Restrained in her dress.
And while my thoughts dwelled
On the size of her bra,
I cursed my bad luck
At not owning a car.

I am very pleased with the new sub-forums. They have allowed me to read some stuff I've missed out on for one reason and another. This poem is one I missed, Paul. It's great :)

Did you miss it the first time or the second time K8 :2funny: ..........glad you caught it the third time.............Its all good

It makes you see how Jerry and Paul could be co-writers ...doesnt it?

I think we have our own 'Two Ronnies' here?

What do you think? :-\

Anybody (even me :-[ ) can make a mistake but I don't expect to be punished for it at every opportunity. :'(
