Severn valley railway.

Hi Jean I know Cynthia and Neville, they have the book as does Sandra at the Harbour. Let me know when you are next down and I will try to meet you and bring a copy if you can't get hold of one. Barrie

I've just read through this fascinating thread. Thanks everyone, it's a wonderful tour of the SVR for someone who is (sadly) unable to visit.

We ate fish and chips by the river on Saturday and was watching a green woodpecker going too and fro from a telegraph pole to a tree. Guess what? no camera. The trains are still running and I was quite happy to sit there just listening to them go by. The Harbour changes hands after Xmas and Sandra's son is taking over. Jean.

This is not the same fishing Alf. I will take a look at his message to me and then come back with the name of his book. Jean.

The name of my book is 'Arley, A Glimpse of the Past' Published by KRM Publishing at Kidderminster Railway Museum. It was on sale at Arley Post Office and the Arboretum if they have any left. Also at Bewdley Museum Tourist Information Centre and Bewdley Books. In Kidderminster it is available at WHSmith, the Kidderminster Railway Museum and the SVR Shops.
By the way the SVR will not be running January to March as there is major work to be done.
Barrie

Thanks Barrie we will have to meet up at the Harbour next year sometime. Must tell you that Neville was rushed into hospital with chest and back pains a couple of days ago and I must phone to find out how he is. Sandra's son will be disappointed with the railway being closed for that length of time as he takes over the Harbour in January. Have you any plans for another book Barrie?. Jean.

My next (and last!) book is in preparation entitled King's Heath to the Country (Vol 2) and is due out, hopefully before Christmas. I need to put my feet up a bit now and read a few books myself as I am now 72. I am sorry to hear about Neville, I hope he is ok. Would like to hear if you can find out how he is. Barrie

Will phone Sandra later as I am sure she will be cooking a lot of meals with the weather like today. Bye. Jean.

Barrie I am pleased to say that Neville just had cronic indigestion. He was kept in over night and has been given a special diet to follow. Jean.

We went for a walk across the railway to the island and rapids during the week and on the way to Highley we saw this rubbish dumped in the middle of this beautiful spot. How low can people get. Parts of what was left had been used as a toilet. Yuk. Jean.

My small grandson loves the tunnel before Bewdley coming up from Kidderminster. It's not the tunnel itself but he's clocked it that coming out of the tunnel he has to be at a rightside window to see the animals in the West Midlands Safari Park. When we took him there he was more interested looking out for a Severn Valley train on the viaduct. Kids eh!

Really good video Lyn. i really must do a run on the train again. Have visited Bridgenorth more recently, but the last run i di, the line ended at Bewdley.

Hi all Severn Valley supporters.
Just to say there is a post card fair at Kidderminster Railway Museum on Saturday 6th August. Doors open at 10am with free admission!!
I will have a table there and will be selling some of my photographs used in my book 'Arley, A Glimpse of the Past'. They will all be proper photographs and not scans. They will be reasonably priced so if you are interested in old Arley then I would be pleased to see you.
