  • HI folks the server that hosts the site completely died including the Hdd's and backups.
    Luckily i create an offsite backup once a week! this has now been restored so we have lost a few days posts.
    im still fixing things at the moment so bear with me and im still working on all images 90% are fine the others im working on now
    we are now using a backup solution

Does anyone have pictures of Saltley Dock,? I'm interested in the Fellows, Morton, Clayton. boat building site.

Hi Alf, Thanks,Ive 'googled' that site myself, was hoping for a map, or Pics of Saltley Docks, or the area. :rolleyes:

"Then there was the famed Saltley Dock of the canal carriers Fellows, Morton and Clayton. The company had come into being in 1889, and took over William Clayton's dock down the Garrison Locks at Saltley. He is remembered in (the name of) Clayton Street.
Saltley Docks became the principal boatbuilding dock for the company. Before 1896, all the boats were wooden, but production then switched to steamers made of a composite of iron sides and elm bottoms."
