SALTLEY CYCLES

Saltley Mill was on Adderley road opposite Hams Road at the beginning of the 20th century it was also a Cycle factory.

Hi,

Just been going through a load of metal detector finds from several
decades ago, and came across an old shield shaped badge.

Although very difficult to read through corrosion, the badge reads
Saltley Mill Cycling Club, with Cycling across the top left, Club at
the bottom right, and Saltley Mill in large letters diagonally across it

Kind regards
Dave

A snippet of history about the Smiths and Saltley Mill. This newspaper extract covers the bankruptcy proceedings in 1886. The foundation of the business was in 1848. Viv.E44E0D2D-BC21-4CB0-BC71-718F36236561.jpeg581112D8-F2D5-484E-B3E9-CD64987B2E6A.jpeg

I wonder if you could post a photo of the shield Dave please ? Viv.

Hi Viv,

As mentioned, the condition of the badge is very poor, and I only managed to read
the text by judicious brushing to remove some of the corrosion, and shining a light
diagonally across it.

I've taken a number of pictures of it and selected the "best" (trust me!), but the image
is so poor I have included a rough sketch of its layout.
