Thanks for posting the pictures.

The one of Alum Rock Road was taken from the top of the hill leading down to Saltley and Nechells. The church in the right foreground was a Methodist church and had a boy scout pack attached that met in the church hall at the rear. This was in the 1950s but the photo must have been much earlier - not a car in sight!

Hi Macca. I join others in thanking you for the pictures. The top right-hand pic on the 15th posting is of High Street, Saltley. I was born in the flat above the shop shown on the left-hand side of the road, on the corner of Gate Street. The shop below was Strutts the Chemist.

I don't know what year the Alum rock road shot was but it was before my time. I can't remember a church there but down the road on the right hand side looks like it might be the entrance to Wright Road and it looks for all the world like Ted Haynes green grocer on the corner.

Sorry Paul I don't have a picture of Cranby Road I'm not even sure exactly where that is? I grew up on Farndon Road, up the the other end, although I had friends 'down the rock'. I'll sort through my other postcards when I get chance, see what else I've got.

Hi Macca , just to say thanks for the good researching & excellent photos,
I remember those streets from 60,s-70,s, lots of m8,s down thataway,
Cheers m8, JohnY

This says Pretoria Road Saltley, I've always thought it was Boredesley Green.

Washwood Heath Road, not technically Saltley or Alum rock, but near enough!

Macca, the road off to the right on the washwood Heath Road shot was Leigh Road I believe and the Church...was it St. Marks. I think it was Highfield off to the left, leading up to the bridge across the railway.

OK, thanks Macca. Here's a Google Earth image of Cranby Street and Farndon Road. They're not too far away from each other!
