The RAF Lichfield Association have just disbanded after 20years, but their website is still available and you may glean more info from it, see here: https://www.raf-lichfield.co.uk/
We have really enjoyed the reunions.
I'll see if I can find some more pictures.

I visited a prospective customer at Fradley just before Christmas. Looking at the photos posted earlier it's surprising how much of the old airfield seems to have survived. It was a maintenance unit as I recall. I also remember attending model flying competitions there back in the 1960's, always ending up in a little pub by the canal junction. When I get a bit of time I'll go and have a closer look.

St. Georges Barracks ~ this is just up the road from me and only some of the barracks was sold off for housing and flats. There are still some 2 storey buildings (possibly 4 training) and also some housing for military personnel I think.

Fradley Airport. Back in the 60s the hangers were taken over by Lucas,s and became their stores a conveyor system was installed with no1 hanger being the operations H.Q. no 3 hanger was closest to the control tower there were many supposed sighting of a pilot who had come to a tragic end .I was involve in the electrical installation for 18 months but never saw anything.Dek

Hi there
i remember going to st georges barracks for a period and the reason i can recall it was i nearly got court marshalled for falling to sleep on gaurd duty
it was a very severe cold night and frosty and very wndy i had the great coat on and well wrapped up but i was so dead beat that i thought
i would pop into my billitt sat on my bed and i do not recall dozing off to sleep when my shift was up i was still asleep and the other guys whom was with me returned to the gaurd house for change of the rota and because i was a sleep on the bed i was no wiser for the time but my friend came in and found me and woke me up and told me they was searching the barracks for me so i got jangers for it for two days
and when i was back on duty in a couple of days later the red coats came from up country with a prisoner and i had to gaurd him and keep an eye on him in the cells when they brought him into the gaurd house i recinised him from steward st from years ago is name was billy so i bent the rules for him and gave him contraband whist geing waiting to be shipped to militry prison in a couple of days time
i also went to whittington barracks in lichfield and beleiove me there assault course was very demanding and its were or was the commandos do there traing its was a wicked assault course i will never forget then we went to mindon in germany
that was quite afew years ago but i still have the memorys of the good old days the sergeant of the red caps was my brothers old mate thats why i got away with what i done best wishes astonion
