Pollyanna's, Newhall Street

Barr_Beacon

The Prodigal Brummie
I used to go to Pollyanna's regularly from 1975, I think it was called Revolution before that (from what I can recall from the ads in The Birmingham Evening Mail at that time). I Stumbled across this advertisement the other day, it shares the same address as Pollyanna's. Was it a nightclub that opened here in the 1960s or the 1980s when I stopped going regularly to clubs? Can anyone shed any light on this?

Top Cats; well I found my answer. It was a club at the same address of Pollyanna's but ran in the 1990s

Yes I was one of the DJ’s in the early 70’s . I was playing funk music

Played quite a bit of Two-tone there too in the late 70s. It's now Ginger's Bar and is owned by Glynn Purnell.

Pollyanna's in Newhall St was run by Don Fewtrell alone, and not by Eddie and hid brothers..had a very nice doorman called "Black John" who loved th dink Brandy ,just a single will do if you asked if he wanted a drink....he always got a double ,Don ended going to Spain with Nina, who worked at club. Years later in the 90's I met him running a Fish & Chip shop in Yardley Rd Acocks Green .... still with Nina..........
