Picture Quiz : Name the engineering project

I don't know if this has appeared in a book, online or on this forum but, just for a bit of fun, can anybody describe what is happening in this photograph ....

Engineering Project.jpg

Its a test erection of the Bordesley flyover, before it was brought to and assembled on the actual site. Such an embarrasment if it didn't fit together properly (anyone remember the 'Bridge not far enough' on Broad Street, which didn't fit when lifted into place?)

I remember the Hilton Bridge being too short but cannot remember if it was a measurement error or the architect decided to build the hotel further back.
